EtherNexus is researching innovative solutions and concepts to promote sustainable virtual communities across multiple virtual worlds.
Our mission is to work toward the development of trans-world compatibility of online communities, player identity, assets and property. This will be accomplished through translation tools, communications protocols, standards, and trans-world applications to serve the needs of individuals and communities who exist across multiple ludic spaces, including physical ludic spaces. Outcomes in the development of these capabilities include those of scientific, technical and artistic research with emphasis upon:
- conceptual architectures
- possible, proposed or actual standards
- components or prototype components
- patents
- joint venture agreements, startups and spin offs
This work is applicable to all types of immersive online worlds, including those directed at "serious games" applications, paving the way for expanded business models and challenging present notions of property, law and government as it applies to online worlds.
